Just 300m from the famed surf break and Echo Beach lies a four-bedroom villa that is the epitome of elegant contemporary Balinese living. Villa Asante is set in glorious walled gardens full of stately Travellers Palms, flowering gingers and frangipani trees. Its pleasing symmetrical design – a two-storey building flanked by a pair of open-sided living and dining pavilions gazing across the swimming pool to the rice terraces beyond the river’s-edge lawn – is the creation of international architect Ross Franklin and interiors guru Dean Kempnich. They’ve hit the perfect balance between the uber-cool open-air living areas and comfortable air-conditioned bedrooms, with loads of entertaining space as well as quiet corners to get away from the crowd.
This is the perfect villa for families; If they tire of cavorting in the pool, playing table tennis or PS3, strumming the guitar or watching movies, they can head for the beach and ride the waves at one of Bali’s famed surf breaks, or enjoy the sporting facilities of the nearby Finns Recreation Club*.
And if a day’s shopping in Seminyak or an outing to the Elephant Safari Park appeals, a car and driver is available for up to eight hours a day (at a nominal rate).
An integral part of the Asante experience is the degree of cosseting guests enjoy. The well-trained long-serving staff (many have been at Asante since the beginning) includes an experienced chef who is a whizz in the kitchen, whipping up spectacular dishes throughout the day. Both butler service and security is provided round the clock, and massage therapists and babysitters can be called in at short notice.
Asante means ‘thank you’ in Swahili and is close to the Bahasa Indonesia word for relaxed (‘santai’). One thing’s for sure – on leaving Villa Asante, you’ll be both relaxed and thankful.

If additional transport is required, don’t hesitate to ask the villa manager to call one of the island’s safe and reasonably priced metered taxis, or to organize day or half-day car and driver hire for sightseeing (additional cost).

Master bedrooms
Located downstairs and fronted by terraces leading onto manicured gardens, the two master bedrooms are furnished with king-size beds, and equipped with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, and satellite-channel TV/DVD players. The generous ensuite bathrooms feature courtyard gardens planted with travelers’ palms and shrubs, accessible via glass doors. Each is fitted with a bathtub and two showers, one indoors, and one offering a tropical showering experience.
Guest bedrooms
One of the upstairs, air-conditioned guest bedrooms is furnished with a king-size bed and the other with twins (convertible to a king). Trundle beds, providing extra sleeping space for two children roll out from under the twin bed frames. Each guest bedroom is equipped with a satellite-channel TV/DVD player. Sliding glass doors open onto a wide balcony, presenting lovely views of the garden. Featuring non-slip acid marble floors, each stylish ensuite bathroom is fitted with a walk-in rainshower.

Event Space
Welcome cocktails are most suitable on the higher lawns and around the pool area. The lower lawn, immediately in front of the swimming pool, is ideal for ceremonies and dinner receptions.
Event Facilities
Kitchen and Bar
The villa’s kitchen is not to be used for an event. Caterers should set up a satellite kitchen in the villa’s parking lot and use a partition to screen off the area. The bar by the villa’s main kitchen may be used during an event; alternatively, free-standing bars can be set up in the grass area. The bar by the pool deck can be made available for events; we recommend caterers utilize this space and advise EOs to provide mats or covers to protect the surface of the bar.
Guest Washrooms
There is one guest washroom near the kitchen. For larger events, we recommend that one of the bedroom ensuites is made available to guests. It is the responsibility of the EO and the guests to ensure belongings in any bedrooms that remain open are stored safely. EOs are also responsible for the cleanliness of the bathrooms during events.
Parking
The parking area is to be kept free for guests’ arrivals and departures (drop-off and pick-up only). This means that there is no parking on-site for EOs or suppliers. Vehicles are permitted for a one-hour period for loading and unloading but should be off-site at least one hour prior to the even
Regulation & Restriction
A DJ or a live band can use the pool balé but must cover the wooden floor with a carpet of some sort to avoid scratches. Marquees must be freestanding. Furniture in the dining room can be moved if necessary, however, this space should not be used as the main event area. Staging is not permitted in or over the swimming pool. Floating bamboo and foam structures for candles and flowers are permitted, however, they should be removed by the EO by 1 am or as soon as guests enter the pool in order to avoid any damage or injury. Fireworks, Thai wishing lanterns and/or the release of balloons is strictly forbidden.
