Peace and tranquility reign supreme at Mandalay Villas, an estate comprising two luxurious holiday homes with a total of 11 bedrooms on Bali’s south-west coast. Picturesque views of endless paddies and the glimmering ocean in the distance, this is a poetic tale that highlights the island’s lush countryside.
Built as a complex with multiple pavilions, even within each villa, the estate marries traditional architecture with modern facilities. Air-conditioned interiors, private pools, open-sided living spaces and manicured lawns make each villa a private haven. Bali’s tropical weather begs for outdoor living and the villas have been designed to maximize this. Covered patios with comfortable lounge seating, living rooms that open up on one side thanks to sliding glass doors, poolside decks dotted with sun loungers, and a thatched balé in each villa for alfresco meals or relaxing massages, there’s a private corner to be found for each guest staying at Mandalay Villas.
The villas are managed by an efficient team of staff who ensure that your every need is met. They work quietly and tirelessly in the background, never intrusive, keeping the villas in pristine condition. The chef is adept at local as well as western cuisines and can dish out delicious fare to please even the most finicky eaters.
Seven-bedroom Villa Mandalay and four-bedroom Villa Mandalay Dua can be rented separately or be combined for larger groups. This makes the estate a perfect venue for large gatherings, reunions, retreats, and weddings. The villas are private but connected via a secret garden path, enabling easy access. With facilities such as a private six-hole pitch and putt golf course, a Finnish-style sauna overlooking a lotus pond, a mezzanine-level home theater, and plenty of board games, there’s plenty to keep everyone busy. And if an excursion is on the cards, the fascinating Tanah Lot Sea Temple is only ten minutes away.

MASTER BEDROOMS
Two generously sized master bedrooms flank the living room, identical but for their artwork. Ceilings are gracefully tiered and softly illuminated in the evenings, long wooden desks nestle in window alcoves with garden outlooks, and each has a timber deck encircled by hedges and flower boxes, and furnished with a table, chairs and daybed. Large bathrooms include separate his-and-hers vanities and oversize terrazzo bathtubs.
GUEST BEDROOMS
Villa Mandalay’s four guest bedrooms are arranged around the swimming pool, opening onto timber decking at the front and to gardens at the back, via sets of glass doors. Two of the rooms have views over the lush rice fields, and are fitted with attractive window seats from which to enjoy them. The other two rooms have window alcoves with built-in desks overlooking tropical gardens.
STUDIO BEDROOM
Tucked away below the main villa, at garden level, the studio is the most private of the bedrooms (although slightly smaller than the others) and has an enchanting timber deck, furnished with sun loungers, set on a thriving lotus pond. The bathroom is tiled in gleaming Indian stone, with a single vanity and walk-in shower. This room is adjacent to the sauna.
MASTER BEDROOM
The master bedroom sits above the living and dining room, accessible via a staircase. Wooden flooring gives the room a warm aura and the king-size bed is positioned to face the green rice fields beyond the compound. The room has a personal patio in front, with enviable views of Uluwatu Cliff and if you open the bedhead window, we can even catch a glimpse of Batur Mountain. The ensuite bathroom has stone flooring and a separate shower cubicle.
GUEST BEDROOMS 1 & 2
A separate pavilion by the pool contains two of the guest bedrooms, built as identical replicas. The two rooms share a common veranda in front and look out towards the lawn and the pool. King-size beds and wooden artifacts make the rooms homely and ensuite bathrooms have all amenities you may need. There is great attention to detail here, with vivid art on the walls and locally-sourced rugs covering the floor.

Event Space
Expansive lawns and a picturesque setting make this villa the perfect venue for special events. The wooden deck on the lower lawn (right in front of the bedroom) could be used as an entertainment platform for bands, DJs or fire dancers.
Event Facilities
Kitchen and Bar
The villa’s kitchen may not be used for events. Caterers should set up their
satellite kitchen on the left side of the upper lawn and must completely
screen off this area from view.
There is no bar available for event use– caterers should supply freestanding bars.
Guest Washrooms
Since there is just one guest washroom (located off the dining room), we recommend one of the downstairs bedroom ensuites be made available to guests during an event. It is the responsibility of the EO and any guests occupying this room to ensure all belongings are stored safely. The EO
is also responsible for the cleanliness of the bathrooms during events.
Parking
The parking area is to be kept free for guests’ arrivals and departures (drop off and pick up). This means that there is no parking on-site for EOs or suppliers. Vehicles are permitted for a one-hour period for loading but should be off-site at least one hour prior to the event.
Regulations and Restrictions
The furniture in the villa’s main living and dining rooms must not be moved or removed, and neither should be used as an event space.
The pool deck can be used for welcome drinks, but we do not recommend using this area or the bamboobalé as the main event space.
The furniture in the bamboo balé can be moved/ removed to allow extra space for live bands, DJs, and cocktails, as well as for ceremonies, providing the size of the party does not exceed 40 guests.
Marquees must be freestanding. Floating bamboo and foam structures for candles and flowers are permitted however EOs should ensure their removal by 1 am or as soon as guests enter the pool in order to avoid any damage or injury.
Fireworks and the release of Thai wishing lanterns and/ or balloons are strictly forbidden.
