Bendega Nui Villa

Bendega is Balinese for fisherman, a fitting name for this villa, which sits in a sea of rice terraces on the perimeter of the small traditional fishing village of Nelayan in Bali’s popular Canggu district. A five-minute walk down a quiet road will bring you to the stunning black-sands of Pantai Nelayan (a wonderful beach for walking and surfing but not safe for swimming), and a short stroll along the sands from here is the Tugu Hotel, an atmospheric boutique hotel-museum stacked with antiques and a ‘must visit’ during your stay.
Acclaimed international architect Glenn Parker was consulted on the villa’s design, which is a modern take on traditional Balinese architecture and spells luxury in every detail. Indonesian hardwood floors, Indian sandstone and Italian travertine provide the canvas for stunning antiques, artifacts and textiles from across the archipelago, such as the glass-topped canoe serving as a statement buffet table that references the villa’s name (‘bendega’ means fisherman in Balinese).
Everything is sized for sociability and comfort, from the huge sofas in the living room and the dining table that seats 20, to the alfresco river-rock bathtub adjoining the fifth bedroom where two can soak with room to spare. The proportions of the double-height living room find a match in the generously sized bedroom suites – all with supremely comfortable beds, unique color-coordinated decor and rice-field or private garden views.
In addition to the large swimming pool, there’s a games room with a pool table and a library with a 50-inch TV.
If additional space is required, two more guests can be accommodated in an optional, luxuriously private master suite, which is linked to Bendega Nui via a garden gateway, and has its own private plunge pool and garden balé. For even larger groups, the neighboring Bendega Rato can be added in its entirety, offering a total of nine bedrooms, making it a great venue for weddings and reunions.

Purple room (master pavilion)
Accessed by stepping stones across a garden pond, the first master bedroom is housed in its own pavilion at the front of the gardens and overlooking the rice fields. This room is private, peaceful and perfectly placed. A canopied, four-poster, king-size bed facing a private terrace is the focus of the room. Behind the bed is a large, walk-through dressing area. At one end of the vast ensuite bathroom is a sunken double bathtub, while, at the far end, is a spacious shower area. A door at the side of the bedroom leads out to the pool and gardens.

Orange room (upstairs master)
In this upper-floor bedroom, a centrally placed four-poster king-size bed looks out onto a private terrace with daybed that, in turn, overlooks the gardens, pool and rice fields. Behind the bed, a dressing area leads through to the large ensuite bathroom where a super-size bathtub looks over the gardens at rear of the villa. Adjoining the bedroom is a study equipped with a laptop computer and printer for guest use.

Green room (upstairs master)
The Green room, also furnished with a king-size four-poster bed, looks out over a ‘wall’ of sliding glass doors that open onto a balcony furnished with a colorful daybed shared with the twin room next door. The large bathroom is fitted with a shower area and bathtub with views of the ocean.

Turquoise room (upstairs twin)
Bendega Nui has been designed with families in mind and this twin-bedded room, with its cheerful turquoise accessories is ideal for children (the beds can be easily converted to a king-size if preferred). This bedroom also features a 37-inch flat screen TV. The ensuite bathroom has a spacious walk-in shower and double wash basins.

Black & White room (downstairs twin)
Tucked away in a peaceful corner of the gardens is the Black & White bedroom pavilion, with its own sitting area, twin beds which can be effortlessly converted to a king and three sets of sliding glass doors open onto the gardens. The pièce de resistance here is the huge river-rock tub, which appears to float at the centre of a fishpond in the decadent indoor/outdoor ensuite bathroom.

Event Facilities
Kitchen and Bar
The villa’s main kitchen is not available for events. Caterers should set up a satellite kitchen at the back of the garage and use the staff area to access the villa. It is advisable to cover the working area with a tent in case of unexpected rain.
There is no existing bar in the villa, therefore caterers must set up a free-standing bar and protect the grass with mats to minimize the damage. The preferred location of this bar is on the lawns between the main dining room and the pool pavilion.
Guest Washrooms
There are two guest toilets available for events in Bendega Nui; one is located beside the pool pavilion and the second one is an outdoor bathroom by the media/tv room.
It is the responsibility of the EO and the guest to ensure belongings in the bedrooms that remain open are stored safely.
Parking
The parking area is to be kept free for guests’ arrivals and departures (drop off and pick up only). This means that there is no parking on-site for EOs or suppliers. Vehicles are permitted for a one-hour period for loading but should be off-site at least one hour prior to the event.
We recommend that guests use taxis when attending events AT Villa Bendega Nui.
Regulations And Restrictions
If booking both villas (Bendega Nui and Bendega Rato) welcome cocktails are best suited in Bendega Rato while the actual ceremony and reception afterward can be beautifully set up in Bendega Nui.
The villa’s living room furniture can be moved to provide more space for guest’s arrivals; however, this area should not be used as an event place. The lower grass area immediately in front of the rice fields is ideally for ceremonies. Dinner tables can be set up around the pool area on the higher lawns; the terrazzo deck by the poolside will make the perfect dance floor.
The Pool Pavilion furniture can be removed to use this space for either bands/dj or even as wet weather dining option. Please ensure you cover the floor to avoid damaging wood.
If using the main dining table to set up a buffet, EOs are advised to cover the surface with plastic and a cloth to protect its surface.
Floating bamboo and foam structures for candies and flowers are permitted however they should be removed by the EO by 1 am or as soon as guests enter the pool in order to avoid any damage to the pool.
Marquees must be freestanding; fireworks, Thai wishing lanterns and balloon release are strictly forbidden.
